Go from zero to your own hero in 2023
Step by step |
Week 2 of January.
Is it February already please ?
A new year, those new round of goals and challenges many of us have set ourselves.
But before you leap into the 3rd week of January wondering how on Earth you were ever going to stick to dry January or that unrealistic diet or exercising 5 times a week.
Stop now.
If your feeling deflated that as we hit the peak time of January where people give up on their new year resolutions, you too are one of them.
Stop now.
Giving up on dry January because you feel you blew it all on those Friday night drinks with friends.
Stop now.
Stopping that exercise regime because the scales haven’t moved and you just didn’t do the 5 workouts you had planned.
Stop now.
Stop being hard on yourself.
Back track to those goals.
Remember no one got fit & healthy overnight.
No one reached their long term goal over night.
So go easy on yourself.
Reevaluate your goals and steps to it.
Don’t go for the zero to hero approach.
It just doesn’t work.
Firstly get the basics right.
Small steps to success.
If you drank 5 nights a week before the “new year, new me” kicked in, a week where you drink only 2 nights is progress.
Commit to this every week for January and you’ll be more likely to reach the end of January having set a realistic goal. Go cold Turkey and you’ll feel you’ve failed and given up before it’s even halfway through.
If your ideal is to exercise 5 days a week but you keep missing those workouts.
Reset.
Start with 2 workouts. Then add in another one a few weeks later.
Not only will you establish a routine and habit quicker but you’ll also ensure you build up your plan slowly, not only keeping it realistic but also keeping you injury free!!
So a simple message this week.
Don’t be a hero this January.
Even hero’s didn’t go from zero to hero overnight.
Even superhero’s start small.
Even superhero’s take small steps to success.
Even superhero’s have down days.
Even superhero’s get it wrong.
Just think back to the karate kid.
A superhero, well back in my day he was.
He started small.
Wax on. Wax off. (Remember?)
Yes he doubted the plan at times.
But he had a plan.
A plan that started with the basics.
A plan that was progressive.
A plan that allowed him to build up to his goal over time.
He had a trainer that built a progressive plan.
Slowly.
Consistently.
By committing to a plan.
He then became the hero he always wanted to be.
Think footloose.
Remember Rusty?
He couldn’t dance.
He wanted to learn so he could impress his girlfriend.
Did he start with those groovy moves or the splits?
No !
Ren got him just tapping to the beat of the music.
The basics.
The first of many small steps to his dream of dancing.
So this January let’s all cut ourselves some slack.
Use the WHOLE of January to set those goals.
To make a start on those small steps to success.
To commit to a plan that is progressive and realistic.
A plan that builds in those steps over time.
Then by the end of 2023 we can all end up hero’s together.
Tomorrow we have our Rise 23 event where our attendees will doing exactly this, building those steps to becoming their own hero by the end 2023!
I will let you know how they get on next week.
Love
