Spanish Runaway Retreat 2023

Join Karen, Kirsty and trail running leader Debbie at this stunning location at the old water-powered flour mill (molino viejo) near Serón in rural Almería.

The weekend will include:

  • All meals & soft drinks (half a bottle of wine with dinner each evening)
  • Daily Pilates / Yoga session at Sunrise and sunset
  • HIIT Classes
  • Treks and local runs for ALL abilities
  • Bike rides exploring the local area
  • Yoga session and outdoor swim at the natural spring at Cela
  • Wine tasting and tapas evening
  • Paella Making class
  • Flamingo dancing class
  • Swimming pool for relaxation

  • Visit to Serón Castle.
  • The traditional Spanish market at Baza 
  • The old mining village at Las Menas.
  • Mini Hollywood where many of the famous westerns were filmed.
  • Granada in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Granada is known for grand examples of medieval architecture dating back to the Moorish occupation, especially the Alhambra Palace. This sprawling hilltop fortress complex encompasses royal palaces, serene patios and reflecting pools from the Nasrid dynasty, as well as the fountains and orchards of the Generalife Gardens
  • Almería where you could visit the Alcazaba, an imposing Moorish fortress overlooking the city, the fortified Almería Cathedral (16th-century) that has a Gothic ribbed ceiling or the Almería Museum that displays archaeological finds from across the region. The English Cable is a huge iron pier and symbol of the city’s former mining industry.

Join myself, trail running leader Debbie and dance instructor Sarah for a weekend of wild running on our coastal retreat.

We will be at the rugged Jurassic coastline, where seabirds soar, and ancient caves litter the coastline. Steeped in heritage, with more elevation than previous seasons, Dorset will not disappoint.


What’s provided?

  • 2 nights accommodation local to the event.
  • Welcome pack including a Wild Running Coastal Retreat technical running t-shirt.
  • Sunset photography lesson with owner of The Picture Maker and workshop.
  • Entry into The Maverick Inov-8 original Dorset race (7 km or 16 km option). Routes that provide a suitable challenge for everyone to come and see what Maverick races are all about.
  • A choice of:
    1. Coasteering – One of the best ways to explore the Dorset coastline and caves. Discover hidden secrets in this 3 hour experience. Or
    2. Kayaking & Canoeing – Paddle in the waters of the south coast around Swanage.
  • Downtime late Saturday afternoon to explore the local area.
  • Hawaiian ‘Hula’ dance lesson with Sarah our Dance instructor.
  • Hawaiian themed Luau Saturday night.
  • Yoga Shred Inspired Flow at Sunrise Sunday morning.
  • All food including traditional fish & chips supper Friday night (options for non fish eaters), breakfast both mornings, lunch Saturday afternoon & Hawaiian themed barbecue  Saturday night and snacks pre-race.
  • Awards ceremony


The whole weekend is estimated in the range of £320-£350 and will be confirmed in early January 2023.
