This is me – ‘Finding the fun in fitness’
Achieve the unthinkable
Over the last few months one thing I have learned is I absolutely love being part and competing as a team.
Since my return from Venice I’ve taken part in a team triathlon, one friend swam, I biked (yes I got on that bike that I detest so much but completely believe in the benefits off) and another friend ran. We were first over female team over the finish line but that really was just an added bonus. The giggles, the energy we gave each other was addictive. A real great way to spend a Saturday morning.
I’ve also since teamed up with old Running Instructor Vicki Judd from VJ Fitness for another fitness event of a different kind. Strong and PiYo Intructor Sarah was due to join us but following a niggle had to pull out a few weeks before but we put some great sessions in over the summer and on the day it all came together.
Battle Cancer is a fitness event with a twist, 4 workouts then a final ‘surprise’ one where you work as a team to get xx number of burpees, thursters, rowing, jumps, dumbell snatches, shuttle run, bag throws. You name it we did it. The four of us worked to each others strength’s and helped out by doing more of the things we were better at (yes I did more sprints and definately less snatches).
It was another great day out with lots of laughs and a kick arse workout to boot. We came 27th out of 83 all females teams which was another pleasant surpise and one of regular fitness competitions competitor Vicki’s best team performances. But once again the friendship and team work really shone through for me. I will definately be back for more!
As you can see my training focus is really mixed, I am keen to stay strong and injury free and it’s only when my cross training takes a back seat I seem to pick up any niggles. So in terms of my training boxing is back, kick boxing specifically, a new gym programme, spinnning, track specific sessions on top of my regular Strong and PiYo classes and practise. I really am keen to finish 2019 strong and hit the ground running in 2020 for what’s looking to be a fun, team fuelled year of activity.
