Body Confident for ALL Seasons
Not just for Summer or Christmas |
Last weeks email seemed to have resonated with many of you, it’s always great to hear from our followers that reading something so simple can help them see the wood through the trees.
So what have you found yourself saying yes and no to over the last week?
With the Christmas party season coming up my social media feed seem to be filled with “Shred yourself for Christmas”, “Little black dress ready”, “Lose a stone by New year”, “This diet”, “That diet”, “This magic potion”, “That magic pill”.
Have you been tempted?
It’s hard not to be.
But we all know that permanent weight loss from dieting does NOT last.
Neither does it come from any type of magic potion or pill.
In fact in some research done in 2017 on 1033 Australians it was found that fad dieting may actually be associated with weight regain and with many regaining more than they lost through dieting.
So it’s a big no from me to these fad diets.
And a yes to focusing on more than just that number on the scales or the number on the label of that little black dress.
How you ask?
By focusing on well-being through practicing healthy behaviors, regardless of your weight.
Focus on building a healthy relationship with food. Eating a wide variety of foods for nourishment and enjoyment. For fuelling your body to function efficiently and effectively.
Focus on building a healthy relationship with physical activity, engaging in regular movement that is about maintaining or improving physical fitness, one that YOU find fun and enjoyable. For the benefits on your physical, mental and social health, rather than for weight control or changing body size or shape.
These two key focuses will bring you much more than any fad diet.
Work on being consistent with these and along with it will come all the benefits that body confidence brings.
Wearing the little black dress regardless of the number on the label.
Wearing that little black dress, not just for the Christmas season but through all seasons.
Because body confidence isn’t like any “Shred for Christmas”, that’s just for Christmas.
Body confidence built on solid foundations of a good healthy relationship with nutrition and exercise is for all seasons.
So as you head into those Winter months where the temptation is to hide under your favourite jumper for 6 months say “Yes” to working on you.
You outside the number and I can guarantee you’ll be Body confident all year round.
Not just for Christmas.
