With love and patience, anything is impossible
I just love having something to talk about, my injury will be fuelling my newsletters for weeks to come as so much is relatable to our clients looking to achieve their goals. Whether that’s running their first 5 km to becoming fitter, firmer and stronger or those coming back from injury themselves.
A quote brought to my attention this week was from Usain Bolt, one of the greatest sprinters of all time.
“I trained 4 years to run 9 seconds, and people give up when they don’t see results in 2 months.”
I trained for 6 months for what ended up being just under 50 seconds on the track in Poland.
Having ran over nearly a second slower in the 200m at the start of the season it would have been very easy to have just given up.
But you have to trust the plan.
Think about it.
What have you given up on because you were impatient?
Think back to how things would look now if you hadn’t given up?
Giving up on the things that you value and the activities you stop doing that would have brought you closer to your goal because you didn’t see results fast enough?
Health and fitness brings so much value to our life, enjoyment, time with our family, confidence, work, the great outdoors, experiences.
But building a healthy lifestyle doesn’t happen overnight, it takes patience, it’s not a destination it’s a process we have to continually work on.
But how do you make the process easier?
Let’s look at my rehabilitation process.
I have Amanda from Back to motion as my sports therapist. She’s absolutely a vital part of my plan.
She is my first step.
But it doesn’t end there, she’s with me the whole way.
Working with my confidence.
Holding my hand as I took those first steps.
As I head back into the training.
Putting together a full physical plan of exercises to complete each week.
Stage by stage.
I will admit I am taking it slow and behind maybe where I should be, but I don’t want to rush this and have another set back.
Next up with be 6 weeks of shockwave therapy whilst working with a trainer through my rehabilitation plan, re-building that strength.
And then there’s my friends and family.
Surrounding myself with people who fill my life with love and joy along the way.
People who support my process, my decision to take the slow road and support me on my future goals.
From taking those first steps, to driving, to walking “properly” , taking me swimming, joining me on a yoga class.
No matter what and when it will be, my road back to the track will be filed with love and lots of patience and you know what ?
“Patience attracts happiness; it brings near that which is far.”
And that is exactly where I am.
Happy.
Happy to be patient.
Happy to wait it out and work on me for the long haul.
Impatience will only bring frustration, thoughts of giving up because I am setting unreachable goals, putting pressure on myself and risking disappointment because I’ve not reached my goal overnight.
Usain Bolt didn’t become the world’s greatest sprinter overnight and I won’t get back to my fastest self overnight and you won’t get to be the healthiest version of yourself overnight either.
It just won’t happen.
Trust the process.
Build a solid team of support and love around you.
Keep making healthy choices.
Show up.
Step by step.
You WILL get there.
We ALL will.
After all with a little love and patience, nothing is impossible.
Love
Karen and the team
