“Healthy” – An outfit that looks different on everyone.
Why “healthy” is about you finding that routine that works for you and keeping at it consistently. |
It’s another strange old month isn’t it? Not sure about you but I am struggling to find that routine I so thrive on.
I have a college child on home learning.
A child whose been isolating.
And just as we are about to find a new routine we now have a mid-week Inset day for my other 2 children.
Only 3 weeks till school breaks out for summer and I am not sure I really got going this term.
If nothing else my training I like to keep consistent, but even that has been thrown out sync recently with the addition of my track season starting.
Masters Athletics is such a wonderful environment to be in and it’s so lovely to see athletes of all shapes, sizes and age competing. It really is an inspirational place to be.
This and the quote that caught my recently “Healthy is an outfit that looks different on everybody” got me thinking.
We all know not to compare ourselves to others and the masters athletics world is no different.
We all train, we all specialise, we all compete.
Yet we all look very different.
I see lots of women day to day on our online programs, in our running groups, group PT sessions and 1-2-1.
Each of them are all different shapes and sizes.
I don’t classify the thinner ones as healthy any more than those who are slightly over weight as to me it’s actually about who take’s better care of themselves through balance & consistency.
What is healthy after all?
To me the most important thing about being healthy is having a healthy lifestyle that works for YOU.
???? One where you work out consistency, but don’t beat yourself up if you miss an odd session here or there. Life happens.
One where your nutrition is balanced and doesn’t leave you starving yourself, hungry or worse still lacking the energy to complete your daily tasks, let alone giving you enough energy to workout.
A nutritional plan that fuels your body to leave you feeling energised yet allows you that balance to have cake at your friends birthday dinner or wine with your meal Saturday night.
A lifestyle that makes you happy!
As with the fact there is not a one size fits all in being healthy, there isn’t a one diet or fitness routine thats fits all either.
?Find out what motivates you to move.
???? Work out what exercise you love to do.
Ditch that “diet” that leaves you feeling exhausted, deflated and miserable.
?? Find that balance that works for you.
Just you do YOU.
That’s what the master athletes do. They run, jump or throw, and if they love all of the above they do all 3.
The road to healthy isn’t in the number on the scales or the label at the back of your jeans.
Healthy is doing what YOU love to doing it consistently.
Short of time?
Your probably better off (like most people) working out in the morning before the day gets busy and those excuses creep in.
Shred 20 could be just the thing for you at just 20 minutes Monday – Friday from 7 am Live and recorded for catch up.
Love the idea of a full class timetable offered at your local gym but find it expensive or just not convenient?
Our 30 day Stronger Together program is your “Working in is the new working out” answer to the gym. Our July schedule is packed full of variety, from HIIT classes, classes with bands, Pilates, Barre, PiYo and showcase classes including Gravity Yoga and ALL new Lean Lift and it’s all virtual from the comfort of your own home, includes Nutritional coaching, recipes and so much more in our community Facebook group.
Not motivated to work out alone at home and need that extra accountability?
We have our small group Personal training sessions “Shred 40” running face to face from The Foxes Den in Binfield and our weekly running groups to bring that extra focus and social element to running alongside a group training plan.
Whatever is your flavour though be realistic. Not many of us have the time to go to a face to face session every day so a check in once a week with a run group or several times a week in our small group PT sessions with some online sessions could bring that consistency you need to find YOUR healthy.
All that really matters is that what ever you decide is for you, do it and do it consistently.
We are all set to go with a month of getting summer ready and hope you’ll join us on one of our programs to find your “thing” before those summer holidays kick in.
And let’s hope the sun visits us too, have a great week in the meantime.
Love,
Karen and The Elite Conditioning Team
