Start 2020 on top of the mountain
Achieve the unthinkable
So with Christmas a week away we are all rushing around busying ourselves in preparation for the holiday season and our health and fitness is probably the last thing at the bottom of Santa’s sack as we find ourselves busy filling them and putting those health goals last.
It really doesn’t have to be this way and of course you knew I would say that! Christmas is a time for family, for celebrating with friends, for giving and receiving but what about YOU. Think how fitness makes you feel, whether its a run, a gym session, a walk with the dog. I’ve no doubt that you come back feeling revigorated, energised and more like ‘you’ than at any other time? I see you nodding your head in agreement at these words.
So can you imagine Christmas celebrations if you still managed to fit in some training? Wouldn’t it just be the best Christmas EVER? Wouldn’t it be great to go striding into 2020 at the top of the mountain rather than having to climb a mountain to even get to where you were health and fitness wise before Christmas?
Yes there will always be
‘I’m too busy with organising Christmas’
‘I’ve got loads of Christmas socials’
‘Christmas is for over indulging’
But no one wants to start January re-doing all the hard work of 2019 that you lost over Christmas.
So think about what you can do over the festive season to start 2020 strong.
Exercise is usually one of the first things to go when time is stretched. But did you know that a reduced training schedule doesn’t mean that your fitness levels have to be compromised? Research has shown that a few weeks of maintenance training can mean minimal if any, fitness losses. In fact in some cases you can find your body has had real time to recover and repair and you can come back stronger.
Pick those workout’s wisely. Mix it up. No time for that 90 minute run? Cut it in half or try a short 5 km run mixed in with some shorter sprints (30 secs sprint every 1 km)
Can’t get to the gym session that takes up 2 hours of your day with travel then how about a HITT workout from home. This will then keep your fitness levels up whilst still working your VO2 max system.
Try a a shorter class at your local gym, many have 30 minute options on their time tables now.
Get your family involved. Over at FastTrack Fit Camp they have Pay as you go sessions running all over Christmas which is open to everyone. I am taking my familiy Christmas Eve and it’s becoming something of a Christmas tradition now and a wonderful rare chance for us to workout together. A real treat and memory making activity.
Just remember something, anything is better than nothing.
With the Elite Conditioning FREE Christmas running sessions and FastTrack Fit Camp PAUG sessions you CAN keep yourself moving this Christmas and give yourself that head start in 2020 whilst everyone else plays catch up.
AND look out for the Elite Strong’s FIRST EVER ‘Live’ PiYo class coming over the festive period. Yes you read that right. Live straight to the comfort of your home. Details to be released over the weekend.
